400m records broken at Yorkshire Champs

The first weekend of the Yorkshire Championships have realised much success for the club as a whole. Yet again, our Club Captains have broken their own records. Mollie Fisher started the weekend setting a time of 4:30.63 breaking a record she set this time last year. Luke Booth quickly followed the same day with a time of 4:07.67 breaking a time he had previously set in May. Congratulations to both swimmers!

Thanks to our Sponsor

For 2023, Rotherham Metro are proud to welcome JM Ross Construction of Rotherham (https://www.rotherhamwindowfitter.co.uk/) in sponsoring our Top Boy, Top Girl and Top Visiting Club trophies. Many thanks to the Ross family for their generosity and photos of our winners will follow on our social media outlets after the conclusion of tomorrow’s events.

Club Captain smashes his own records

The Swim England Winter Championships were three times lucky for Luke Booth as he continues to break records. Three swims and three records broken:

800m Freestyle: 8:08.39

1500m Freestyle: 15:30.07

400m Freestyle: 3:54.33

These were all his own records he has broken having only previously set them last month.

In the 400m Freestyle, he also achieved the silver medal. Congratulations!

Five more records smashed by our Club Captains!

The Stockport Metro Open meet last weekend was the last opportunity for our swimmers to shine before next month’s Winter Nationals and our Club Captains were again in record-breaking form.

Luke Booth started the weekend with a time of 8:11.86 in the 800m Freestyle breaking George Russell’s short course record from November 2015.  Luke then showed his mettle in the 400m IM with a time of 4:32.85 breaking a record that had been held by Joe Roebuck for 22 years.  He finished the weekend breaking Dale Waterhouse’s record from November 2009 with a time of 1:53.02 in the 200m freestyle, obtaining another National qualification in the process.

Mollie Fisher added to the record tally breaking two of her own records.  She knocked a huge 36 seconds from the 1500m freestyle time she had previously set in January this year with a time of 17:14.61.  She also broke the 200m freestyle record that she had held for three years with an improved time of 2:05.70.

Well done again to both our captains!

Club Captains break records at NERs!

Our Club Captains broke three club records between them at the North East Regional Short Course Championships last weekend.

On Saturday, Luke Booth completed the 400m freestyle with a time of 3:56.13 beating George Russell’s record from November 2014. He won a bronze medal in the final later that day.

On Sunday, Luke followed that up with a time of 15:39.86 beating another of George Russell’s records from December 2015.  Luke won a gold medal in the process.

Our female Club Captain, Mollie Fisher competed in the final of 400m freestyle later that day with a time of 4:22.59 breaking her own record from November 2019. A bronze medal was her reward.

Well done to both our captains!

Jack’s Open Water Gold

As a result of his performances at 1500m in the pool, Jack Finnie was recently selected to represent the NE region in Open Water events.

He has trained with the squad recently in Sunderland and more closer to home at Manvers Lake.

Last weekend saw him compete at the NW/NE Regional Championships where he achieved the gold medal in the 3000m.

Well done to Jack and we wish him well for the national competition at Thrybergh next month.

We’ve also added a new club record for this with Jack being the first to achieve 🙂
